Last Halloween was not a kind one for the children in my area. That lady in the sky must have had a week’s worth of laundry to do, and she drained it right over the trick-or-treaters. I keep my place dark, mainly because the whole street is. Few kids ever come down here and I don’t want to be the light that lures them into lonely or possibly dangerous terrain.
But I happened to turn at my living room window and there in the dark on the sidewalk in front of my place was a woman, age indeterminate, with a child of about two, maybe three years, dressed in a bunny costume. The child wasn’t complaining, and the mother wasn’t urging, but you felt there was a kind of disappointed desperation in their posture. The mother was softly worried, but assured of her destination. The child shrugged and left everything to the mother, but was feeling a mixture of hope and sadness.

My second big goof was back when Kate and Prince William married. I predicted that they would spend a lot of time in America, and even establish a residence there. But it was Harry and Megan, who did exactly that! This time not the wrong city, but the wrong couple/sibling.

I would be slow to buy Huntington Bank shares in the USA. I think they might have some connection to fraudulent operators. Their CEO’s passport is being used to legitimize fraudulent donation scams. When I informed the bank’s HQ of this, and submitted proof — even sending them a copy of Huntington CEO Stephen Steinour’s passport (for the scammers had approached me) — the bank seemed uninterested, asked no questions, and didn’t contact me for a follow-up.
