WEEKLY FORECAST:

aries icon  ARIES:  March 21-April 19

The strong accent on relationships and opportunities (and perhaps opposition) continues, Aries. This week might be the last chance to get an honest answer from someone. Workmates are pleasant. Some singles among you might even start a workplace romance. Hmmm… You are interested in delving deep, discovering secrets, and exploring sexual or financial “doorways.” Real estate remains lucky. Sunday is for pondering, international issues, and gentle love. But don’t expect a lot of success, as two fairly major obstacles stand in your way. Monday predawn (PDT) to midday Wednesday, accents, ambition, career, prestige relations, and your worldly standing. You will actually get a lot done Monday if you just tackle things. Your efforts might also impress a potential associate or partner. Tuesday holds some misunderstandings or miscommunications, especially late day — but also an opportunity. Wednesday pm to suppertime Friday lifts your heart with optimism, social delights, friendly flirting and entertainment — Thursday’s better, Friday’s best. Retreat, find a quiet place to rest, think and plan Friday eve through the weekend. Saturday morning’s good for action, research.

taurus icon  TAURUS:  April 20-May 20

The main accent lies on work and health, Taurus. Dress and eat sensibly. The five weeks ahead could bring a passionate attraction, or any level of argument. Avoid dark places and belligerent individuals. You are favoured in romance for two more weeks. Paperwork is piling up, so handle it this month ahead – before everything slows down in November. Sunday is sexy and promotes investigations, finances, and sexual intimacy — but not very successfully. A mellow mood steals over you Monday to midday Wednesday (PDT). Profound thoughts, higher learning, media, law, far travel, and gentle love call you. Monday is good for accomplishment, pre-dawn Tuesday is good for love (but the rest of this day holds miscommunications and, oddly, a fortunate and valid opportunity late day). Wednesday morning is stable, workable. This afternoon until supper time Friday highlights your career, your worldly standing and prestige relations — and interactions with authorities. Wednesday is a bit dicey, could hold an opportunity or a disagreement. But Thursday is fortunate after dawn — Friday also. Friday night and Saturday brings optimism, friends, and social delights, flirtations, and entertainment.

gemini icon  GEMINI:  May 21-June 20

Romance is top of the ticket for the next few weeks, Gemini. If you’re not in the romance market, the same influence sprinkles good luck on your creative efforts, teaching/raising kids, sports and games. Pleasure and beauty will surround you. Work will be intense (but hopeful) until early November. Guard against cuts, chemicals. Your money and income picture remains pretty splendid through next June. This is a great handful of months too, do things to increase your income. You might spend rather extravagantly also. Your home remains pleasant for two more weeks — might be a good time to settle a family issue. Now to mid February, bosses and authorities are going to display a lack of humour, so don’t test them! Sunday, sparks excitement in relationships and opportunities, but they both kind of crash on the rocks of reality. Monday pre-dawn to midday Wed. (PDT) nudge you into a more hidden side of life, where major finances and commitments, sexual temptations, power plays and research prevail. Your luck is mixed, but you can gain if flexible and nimble. Wednesday afternoon to Friday supper time brings far travel, international affairs, law, higher learning, media, and gentle love. This interval may start out shaky Wednesday, even though friendliness prevails. But Thursday into Friday good luck rides with you. It might be time to tell someone you love them. Be ambitious Friday evening into the weekend. You’ll be pleased with where are you stand and how far you’ve come.

Cancer icon  CANCER:  June 21-July 22

The main accent remains on home, children, security, food and mother nature, Cancer. You actually love this kind of month. You remain very lucky through next June, especially in the workplace. This is a good handful of months to improve your work situation, ask for a pay raise, etc.. (The pay raise probably won’t come until after June 2026, but asking for it earlier makes it more likely to come after June.) Romance for the next five weeks will be intense, hot, maybe argumentative — and might include an ambition or a “status climb.”Communications are friendly and gracious. Encourage a family discussion this week. Sunday is for work. Eat, dress sensibly. Don’t expect much. Relationships enter pre-dawn Monday to midday Wednesday (PDT). Monday is so-so , but becomes affectionate later this day to just before dawn Tuesday. Tuesday has communication problems. Wednesday is stable and opportunistic. Be diplomatic all three days, or you could create opposition. Secrets, sexual temptation, major, finances, medical and lifestyle choices, commitment and consequence fill Wednesday afternoon to supper time Friday. Be careful late Wednesday and early Thursday morning, then charge ahead for success. A mellow mood, gentle, love, international affairs, law, and higher learning, publishing and far travel are like a banquet Friday night into the weekend – pick one. Friday p.m. holds obstacles (maybe be governmental) but Saturday succeeds early and late.

Leo icon  LEO:  July 23-Aug. 22

Communications, paperwork, and errands fill the weeks ahead, Leo. The government and the administration at your work treat you very benevolently for the next nine months. Same time, you might have a secret love affair. Your home and family need care and a very light touch for the next five weeks — otherwise, you could face temperamental explosions. (These five weeks are good for work on your home, renovations, building a backyard, pool, etc..— but start soon, not later as November will bring delays and screw ups — and an old flame.) your money picture looks good until mid October. Sunday is for romance and creativity and charming kids —  but don’t expect much, as a slow world gets away of your fast impulses. Tackle chores pre-dawn Monday (PDT) to midday Wednesday. Other than some miscommunication or misdirection Tuesday, this is a good interval, and you should get lots done. Wednesday p.m. to separate time Friday brings exciting relationships, opportunities, and maybe some opposition. Be cautious until the wee hours of Thursday, then charge ahead, approach someone, show you’re interested. Friday night and Saturday bring secrets, temptations, major finances, medical and lifestyle decisions. Be cautious Friday, but enterprising, willing to commit, Saturday.

virgo icon  VIRGO:  Aug. 23-Sept. 22

You’re in the midst of a money month, Virgo. Life looks livable! Others find you attractive for the next two weeks. Conversations, driving and paperwork have an intensity now to early November — take care that you don’t inadvertently insult someone or reveal a secret. You might be talking about sex or finances with someone “intimately attractive.” Relationships, which threatened recently to hollow out or end, now return for a five month stint. These are generally compatible people with you, so take a look and see if you didn’t miss something the first time around. Sunday emphasizes your home and family, but don’t push anything here as a reality check will reveal problems. Romance, beauty and pleasure, charming kids, games, and sports — these fill Monday to midday Wednesday. Monday is a bit tough, but this night and Tuesday morning welcome romance. Tuesday daytime holds a small snafu — check addresses before leaving, etc. Wednesday morning is fine. Tackle chores this afternoon to supper time Friday. Mixed luck until early Thursday morning, then great luck from then on. Friday night and Saturday start a weekend of relationships and opportunities — get out, see and be seen.

libra icon  LIBRA:  Sept. 23-Oct. 22

You are at an annual peak in energy, confidence, charisma, effectiveness, and clout. So get out there and start things, Libra! (But be aware that a period of delay and indecision begins early November. Time your projects accordingly.) A Gemini might be in your face, but in a good way. A Virgo might be alluring, but will restrict you. A job you thought was done has returned. It’s a big one, might involve home or real estate. You have five months to solve/perform it. (For best results, think about it until the end of November and then start.) Remember, your career is blessed all year — through June, 2026. Sunday is for communications, short trips, and paperwork – and siblings. But go slow slowly and carefully, and don’t expect much. It’s like being in the carnival, but all the rides are turned off. Monday to midday Wednesday nudges you toward home, family, real estate, security and mom nature. A bit of stress Monday, but this night is affectionate. Tuesday night a minor disagreement, and a big opportunity. Romance flares Wednesday afternoon to suppertime Friday — bad to predawn Thursday, then great! Chase someone in your uniquely retreating/receiving way. Tackle chores, Friday night, Saturday careful with computers and electronics Friday. You’ll get a lot done Saturday morning..

scorpio icon  SCORPIO:  Oct. 23-Nov. 21

Take it easy, Scorpio. Your energy is low, you need “ recharging.” The weeks ahead reward your inner strengths, not your outer ones. Find a quiet place, rest and contemplate, seek advice and plan future actions. Catch up on your taxes and any government or management task. But it won’t all be solitude and quiet — friends, especially female friends, are happy to socialize with you. For the next seven years, if you invest you are quite likely to invest in real estate or agriculture, textiles, forestry, fishing or mining; or high tech. For the next five weeks, you might be burdened with extra work, but you will have the determination and fire to accomplish it. Sunday’s for money, but stick to routine items — bad luck here. Monday to midday Wednesday (PDT) shunts you into short trips, communications, and paperwork chores. These go well overall, but watch Tuesday, double check addresses, don’t say the wrong thing, etc. Wednesday afternoon to suppertime Friday turn you towards home, at least in your heart. Hug the kids, re-examine and pare down plans, imagine/study future investments — these go better Thursday/Friday. Friday eve and Saturday bring beauty, pleasure, a creative, risk-taking urge and romantic notions.

sagittarius icon  SAGITTARIUS:  Nov. 22-Dec. 21

Hey, Sage, a beautiful few weeks ahead! Party mood, optimism, popularity, flirting, maybe a new friend. For the next seven years you will meet more and more lively, bouncy friends. These people are nervous, friendly, intellectual, and a little like water bugs, skipping here, there and everywhere. If you’re single, one of these could become a life mate. This week and next, higher-ups will favour you. A good but not splendid time to ask for a raise or promotion, or to apply for a position. Right now romance, if it exists, seems secret or somehow hidden. Until early November, avoid dark places and belligerent people. A minor surgery might be called for and should be fine. You are full of energy Sunday, but some obstacle prevents ultimate success. Buy and sell, collect $ and pay bills, learn by reading, or embrace a sometime lover, Monday (great late) Tuesday (great to sunrise [PDT] then mildly frustrating — missed meeting or whatever) and Wednesday morning (good, workable). Casual friends, calls. Texts, emails, paperwork and short trips fill midday Wednesday to suppertime Friday. These might contain a pitfall late Wednesday/early Thursday, but good luck rides with you the rest of this interval. Friday evening through Saturday shunts you toward home and family, security and mother nature. All’s well!

capricorn icon  CAPRICORN:  Dec. 22-Jan. 20

Work ambitiously for the several weeks ahead, Cap. Higher ups will be watching and grading your performance. Males tend to befriend you until early November. Simultaneously, you will feel a lot of hope about your home and/or your family – or simply a real estate deal. Legal matters and travel tend to go your way this week and next. Relationships are two sided now through June 2026: they are upbeat, generally happy and filled with lucky opportunities, but on the other hand, they are restrictive and could hold you back. Which they are, is probably up to you and how you approach others. Lie low, rest, contemplate and plan – but don’t get too serious about anything – Sunday. Your energy, charisma and effectiveness surge upward Monday to midday Wednesday. Charge ahead — Monday morning might be a bit confusing and Tuesday can make it hard to reach some contacts or some understanding, and Wednesday is benevolent. Chase money, buy/sell, read to learn and/or get intimate with a friend, Wednesday afternoon to Friday supper time. Wednesday and Thursday pre-dawn have a hiccup, but the rest of Thursday into Friday offers good stuff. Friday night and Saturday bring errands, paperwork, and lots of communication.

Aquarius icon  AQUARIUS:  Jan. 21-Feb. 18

Your mind awakens over the weeks ahead, Aquarius. Profound ideas, media, law and higher learning, far travel, and love occupy your mind. This week and next, intimacy is sweet and rewarding. So are investments. Bosses and higher ups will be impatient and temperamental until early November, so practice your diplomacy! There is a lot of work piling up, but it is good work that leads to improved conditions. This will play out over the next nine months. You wake up happy Sunday, feeling social and optimistic. But as the day wears into night, an obstacle arises — might involve an inability to say what you want. Find a quiet place from Monday to midday Wednesday, to rest, contemplate, research and plan. Liaise with government or your head office, seek advice, and be charitable. Your luck is mixed during this interval, but it ends favourably. Your energy, charisma and effectiveness shoot skyward midday Wednesday to suppertime Friday. Some potholes Wednesday night and very early Thursday – after this, it’s a cakewalk. Start projects that you can finish within one month or less. Chase money, buy/sell, hug a casual lover or read a book or educational article Friday night through the weekend. Again, your luck is jumbled, but ultimately good.

Pisces icon  PISCES:  Feb. 19-March 20

Recent opportunities now demand commitment — you’re in or out. These weeks ahead hold serious and fruitful results in finances, research, sexual intimacy, and medical and lifestyle decisions. Strictly avoid lawsuits. Relationships are pleasant, affectionate. You will hear secrets or discover new angles that can help you make a profitable investment or commitment. Creative projects, raising children and romance are favoured, especially with a higher up, until next July. Someone, maybe a Scorpio, might press you strongly for intimacy. Sunday is for prestige, but there’s hardly anyone to impress. NOT a good day to start any ambitious project. A wish might come true Monday to noon Wednesday (PDT). Optimism, (mild) popularity, flirtations, entertainment, these buoy your heart. Don’t try for agreement Tuesday; otherwise, this interval, pleases you! But find a quiet place to contemplate and plan Wednesday p.m. to suppertime Friday. You need rest. Be cautious Wednesday and very early Thursday – after this success prevails. Your energy soars Friday night, to start a weekend of charisma and effectiveness. The aspects are mixed, but you will come out ahead.

THE END.

AFTERAMBLE:

You always hear about efficiencies of scale. The main idea is that the more volume we process, the cheaper per unit.

Why then do the biggest companies not have the biggest per unit (or per share) profit?

Many small corporations have a little trouble earning 10 to 20% per annum, while the giants’s earnings, such as Microsoft (3%) Teck (1 %) Citi (6 %) and Deere (4 %) are anemic.

I think multiple reasons snake through this difference. First, after it achieves a certain size, a corporation slows down, just like an overweight person  would. This is a subtle and terrible condition; it’s as if these large corporations had a parasite, and in one sense they do: it’s the acceptance of a slower rate. Life is more relaxed in a large company. The employees generally feel secure in their work and their retirement. I’m not a statistician, but I would bet that there is an inverse correlation between employees’ general anxiety and the size of the company. The more relaxed the employee, the less productivity (in general).

When you’re relaxed, you probably take a second longer to take off your coat and hang it up than  were  you rushed, in a hurry to get to your desk where the phone is ringing. In the tiniest but myriad and ubiquitous ways, from leaving a little early to slowly thinking what the political repercussions of an action might be, before acting, this self-slowing operates on all levels of a large corporation until it becomes like a blanket soaked in water, weighing on efforts, diluting action, and ultimately dampening profits.

This isn’t economy of scale — it’s bloating from scale.

Many things we think are too slow or too fast even to be observed, actually can be seen. If you watch a decade or two of NFL games, you’ll notice different trends and cycles. For instance, lately you’ll see runners who often gain as much or more yardage after they are first tackled than on their initial charge. This phenomenon of power runners matches a new kind of athletic vector and a new tendency for the entire offence to push their runner forward like a rugby scrum. Such trends or innovations either last a long time and become a permanent feature of future athletes, or they are the trend of the moment and a running style of 2020 will be at least partly replaced by 2030.

Another thing you’ll notice about runners now is they pick their way through the mass of players in front of them with a new agility and skill. Ten years ago runners either went for the edge (seldom) or flung themselves blindly into the scrum in front of them, hoping that their offensive line has opened the gates as  planned in the locker room. But if anything went wrong, 10 years ago, the runner would simply splat against the human flesh, and that would be it. The new  dexterity of today’s runners is another example of athletic evolvement.

If you watch these trends evolve, you start to notice that one trend comes out and is successful, and before too long another trend comes out that nullifies or operates more successfully than the original trend. This is Darwinian evolution, happening before our eyes. “Food” animals evolve to overcome the animals that prey on them. In turn, the predator evolves to match or overcome the prey’s improvements. In the end, both species become more specialized, although someone should study whether they are more successful. I haven’t told it well but I’m trying to show, without good examples, how you can actually watch evolution at work.

Another thing you can watch is the rotation of the Earth. We all know that we’re spinning around the entire world every 24 hours, but we don’t feel anything and when you look around nothing’s moving. But drive out some night and park your car where it’s dark enough to see the stars and where you can see a utility line stretching across the road, perpendicular to you. Now pick any star that is  near the black utility line. Keep your eye on that star for the next five minutes. You’ll notice that it actually crosses that thick black wire — so it has travelled entire inches (from your POV) in those few minutes. You have just watched the Earth rotate, in that its turning showed a star go by, just as you would watch a farmhouse go by as you drove down the freeway. But the farmhouse isn’t moving — you are. So when you watch that star moving, realize it’s you moving, not the star.

In an earlier column, I gave the example of light being so slow – you could say two sentences by the time light reaches the Earth from the moon. Light from the sun to Pluto takes a full eight hours. All this seems rather sluggish to me, as if our solar system was a quaint ecosystem of the past. I’m sure there’s something faster, I can feel it in my bones.

AI marks a huge step forward toward the leisure society we first grandly touted in the 1950’s and 60’s. I’m not sure it’s the first step, as electric lights and washing machines reduced labor a hundred years ago. But  an odd phenomenon has occurred since technology began reducing our workload: the average human, at least in America, on an average salary, struggles more and more (more in 2025 than in 1990, and 1990 more than 1950) to afford the necessities of life: home, car, family’s food, onerous taxes.

In a long chart, I think we would see that what an average worker produces, and what the average worker can afford in housing and etc., have been inversely correlated since for the last hundred years. The leisure society is actually an impoverished, enslaved society in many respects.

***

I let God down in so many ways. I don’t mean overt sins – God forgive me those! Please! — but in things I didn’t do.

Our ordinary sins are all at some point forgivable. Were they not, the entire human race would spend eternity in hell.

It is the spiritual sins that can get a person in all sorts of trouble. My problem wasn’t that. It was a lack of faith and an over abundance of caution.

***

I have this roof deck that has various walls and guard rails I guess, which I have been trying to de-mold. One thing kept puzzling me: why did the portions of wall facing the morning Sun have the most moss and mould and lichens on them, and the walls that face the evening sun were much cleaner, with 1/10th the mold. Then it struck me: if, say, the day runs from 8 AM to 8 PM at the equinox, the wall will receive the morning sun from 8 AM to noon, or four hours. While the evening facing wall will receive the sun from noon till 8 PM – eight hours, or twice as long as the morning facing walls. It’s so simple but I just didn’t see it. I was operating on the assumption that morning is good, morning sunshine is good, clean and energizing, sunshine gets rid of mold.  In this case, my intuition was out to lunch and logic saved the day.

We can’t always rely on intuition, for often it is a mixture of old memories, family, emotions,  and wishes. It might lead you where you want to go rather than where you should go. When the tarot, for instance, is only reflecting your id, it is no longer serving as an advisor or forecaster, for it has let go of the railing on the ship of reality.

If the left had not gone so far, Trump would not have needed to exist. It was Obama, leftist and apologist for Islam, who first challenged Trump to run for president. It was meant to be a joke, a sly insult. But look what he  reaped from that jovial sowing: the strongest opposition the left has seen in memory, the fracturing of his own party on the rocks of republican strength/realities (girls don’t have penises — someone tell Tim Waltz) and an America more divided than at any time since the Civil War. (I spoke about this a few years ago.)

***

I see Israel has developed a laser anti-missile weapon. Evidently if it flies, the lasers can down it. Such a defensive system has been sought for over a decade, and alone amongst all the powerful nations, Israel discovered the way. We should not be surprised. I’ll bet, per capita, this little nation turns out more high-tech patents than anywhere else on earth.

***

Vladimir Putin became the leader of Russia on December 31, 1999. That means the sun was in Capricorn, his sector of home, of motherhood and patriotism. Putin’s a Libra sun with a Gemini moon. The moon is in a very strong and organized degree. His sun not so much — it nudges him to talk himself into a corner, and can leave him in awkward positions. There is an excellent documentary series, the whole thing is a conversation or a series of questions between Putin and the American film director, David Lynch.

You can literally watch Putin, in these hours-long interviews, spin a web of argument, impression and emotional appeal.  There is a bit of a whine behind every full statement, a complaint that he is not treated fairly by the west, esp. America. As you watch, you begin to isolate big chunks of what Putin’s saying, and say to yourself: yes, that’s very true. I think the Americans are very capable of acting like that behind the scenes. But there are other chunks, just as big, that ring hollow, for instance, when he’s talking about the incursions into Afghanistan, Georgia and Ukraine.

Putin’s chart says a couple of things about him: one, he does love his country, as if it were his child; two, he is intelligent, but not always practical and three, he feels he has been treated unjustly. Self-pity is always beside him, whispering.

When you look at a green leaf on a tree, the leaf is green because its surface accepts and soaks up every single colour except green. Ironic isn’t it? We experience trees as green because trees hate green and will not accept that slice of the visible spectrum.

When you look at a black cat, it appears black because the cat is accepting every single colour there is.  The entire visible spectrum is, in a sense, entering or being soaked up by the cat. This makes me suspect that black cats and dogs are high on the healthy scale .

When you look at a white rose, the rose is white because it rejects every single colour, the entire spectrum of visible light. Perhaps that’s why white has become the colour of wedding gowns, of virgins , of white hatted good guys, of spirituality,  innocence and naivety. White rejects. White does not even touch, far less stand in, the necessary swamps and sweats of corruption and growth. (Rot forms the nutrition for growth. In this sense, white is sterile.)

In a sense, white does not interact with the things of this earth. Therefore, what could it be but the “colour” of spirit?

In the 1970’s I submitted to one of those  cameras which promise to visualize your aura. Mine was pure white. I can be very spiritual, I think. I think I’ve  visited the afterlife a few times. And I see angels in people’s faces. But I’ve been so lazy, so lazy all my life. I haven’t tried to develop my psychic side, or  any other talent I might have. I’ve let God down, if that’s possible.
