“I have no faith, only hope” (which I wrote as a teen) is actually an affront to the God envisioned by religions because it states that the driving force, the life vector, the motivation comes from within the individual, not from God. (If from “God as Creator,” then only indirectly.) The individual cannot connect to God, and therefore has no certainty that anything will evolve — i.e. he has no faith. But he does have hope — that hope is the only thing necessary.

One solution: bypass the Strait of Hormuz with a pipeline or two. The UAE already has one; so does Saudi Arabia — these could be added to.
Tankers could load up at an international oil terminal well south and east of the Strait. This would rob Iran of both power/leverage over their neighbours, and income from tolls.
One problem: Iran can simply bomb the pipeline and its terminals. This can be avoided by promising Iran that if it ever strikes their infrastructure, they (the invested nations) will immediately respond in some dire fashion, e.g., wiping out Tehran, or the country’s electrical plants. The USA could be one of the investor nations, ensuring that the oil coalition has the muscle of weaponry to strike back at Iran.

I know Mexico has its share of troubles, but in at least one way I consider it very fortunate. It sits at the crossroads of North American, Anglo-Saxon culture and Central/South American, Indian and Spanish culture.
These are two of the more vibrant cultures in the world. Afghanistan and Iran are also high on the vibrant scale, but in a negative fashion. I don’t know about China. For decades, it has outdone other nations in terms of growth. But when I look at Xi Jing Ping, I keep getting an impression of satisfaction, but not of growth — basically, “let’s sail the ship as steady as we can.” Maybe that’s a reaction to the property collapse, or maybe it’s a front, a mask he puts on to keep everyone calm. Still , it’s something.

Scientists should explore what charisma is. What causes it? I think they would find a doorway, revealing many links between body and thought — and connections between people.

Amazon struggles as a tech company. Even though it’s included with Microsoft and Meta and Alphabet, it seldom achieves the leaping evaluations that these other tech stocks do. The reason is actually simple: the stocks that leap ahead are pure tech… Whereas Amazon developed technology for one specific goal: to sell the most goods to the most people around the world, and to deliver products efficiently. But they don’t really chase wider tech goals.
The stock analyst should, and I think we eventually will, see Amazon as a commodity stock rather than a tech stock.
