PREAMBLE:

Some readers have been asking me about “Bitcoin,” the internet currency. Actually, Bitcoin is not the first such currency. For at least a decade, maybe two, online fantasy or quest games have used an in-game currency, which could be earned by achieving levels, killing trolls, etc. Over time, players began to trade these in-game currencies for dollars, partly because some players wanted to buy their way to higher levels or increased powers/weapons. Voila, US dollars for in-game money. So Bitcoin stands on the shoulders of earlier virtual currencies. Some analysts, such as Robert Prechter, (“Elliot Wave” newsletter) think Bitcoin will eventually replace national currencies such as the U.S. dollar.

Bitcoin was launched (a reader, Victor, tells me, so blame him if this is wrong) January 3, 2008. During 2010, it had  a value of 6 cents per “coin.” Since then, like the 1700’s tulip craze, the coins have soared – to a peak of $ 1,240 U.S. per coin. As I write this, a coin is worth $ 950 U.S.

I might be wrong (Lord knows I’ve been wrong before!) but I’d dump Bitcoin now – it’s name, a “B,” hints that a “nova” phenomenon is occurring, from 2012 to February 2014. By “nova” I mean things expand hugely, then deflate, capturing many in the claws of loss. That’s the name – the January 3/08 astrology chart shows a deceptive originating impulse, a trap for investors, much hope and optimism on the part of the public, but no courage or “staying power.” The “money making” sector of this chart is ruled by rumor and fantasy and, to a degree, good karma. I think Bitcoin might be an interesting precursor or archetype of an international, non-national, currency….

ARIES   March 21-April 19

It’s your last week of ambition, Aries, so work hard and hopefully. Relationships continue to be of paramount importance – “reality definers.” You can either co-operate and gain loyal allies, or you can attack, disagree, and gain some very active – or at least vocal – enemies. It’s a significant time, now to late July – a time to explore new avenues, even new cities and countries. The entire world, not only geographically, but in ideas, love, partnerships, and business, opens up to you. All you have to do is take the first steps. Accompanying this “open” influence is a situation of luck and comfort on the home front, letting you feel secure even as you explore. (Put these two influences together, and it could be prime time – to late July – to purchase a foreign property.) Sunday/Monday are filled with errands, calls and emails. (Best before 1:30 pm PST Sunday.) Your home, family bless you Monday night, but trigger arguments or competition Tuesday/Wednesday. You could “strike gold” in real estate or food areas Tuesday night. Romance, speculation, beauty draw you Thursday to Saturday – good to Friday eve, then not so much.

 

TAURUS   April 20-May 20

A week of mellow understanding, Taurus. You can sum up now, see where you’ve been, where you are, and where you’re going, whom you should love, and what you should learn over the months/years to come. (Travel, lawsuits, university attendance, cultural involvements, love – all are “learning.”) Do examine your life – one unexpected benefit will be that you realize you’re a better person than you thought. Chase money or shop Sunday/Monday, but stick to routine purchases Sunday pm onward. Friends, travel, visits, calls and paperwork succeed splendidly Monday night and semi-splendidly Wednesday eve: otherwise, treat Mon.-to-Wed. with caution. Dive into home, family, security, garden, and your own soul Thursday to Saturday, but don’t expect much late Friday night. Late Saturday, romance has a chance!

 

GEMINI   May 21-June 20

This is your last week (for awhile) of intimate urges, a willingness to change your lifestyle, of research and investment opportunities. I wouldn’t jump into these with last minute desperation – but do continue and deepen whatever has already developed. (Or is rooted in the past – e.g., a former successful investment might prove profitable again. Look at your old stock portfolios….) (If you’re looking for work, a former job/position might prove rewarding.) Your charisma and energy bounce high Sunday/Monday. (Best before 1:30 pm Sunday, PST – start significant projects, seek attractive links, before then, not after.) Chase money, seek a pay raise, drum up new clients, and make important purchases, Monday night (excellent) Tuesday after supper, and Wednesday pm. During the in-between times (e.g., Tuesday daytime) exercise caution. Errands, friends, conversations, short trips, visits, details and paperwork fill Thursday to Saturday (but are only good until Friday supper time. Home, Saturday night.

 

CANCER   June 21-July 22

Relationships fill this week – and at last you get to speak up for your own position (midweek). This first half of 2014, relations can be under some stress. Pluto keeps changing how you have to deal with others (or keeps changing others). At the same time, Mars brings domestic friction, quick words at home. One way to overcome this is to focus on the romance of your marriage or affair – in this area, wisdom and serenity prevail. (Delays in love, or your partner’s indecision, will end Jan. 31 onward.) Lie low, retreat, rest and plan Sunday/Monday. Your energy and charisma surge upward Monday eve to Wednesday: be cautious. You have the power temporarily, but you don’t want to start big arguments. Monday and Tuesday nights both hold good luck: if you see it, grab it. Chase money and do your shopping Thursday to Friday supper time – quit after that.

 

LEO   July 23-Aug. 22

One last week of work, health concerns and general drudgery, Leo. Soon, the doors will open on fresh opportunities and horizons. (Until then, at least your work scene remains pleasant, even affectionate. Don’t speak impulsively or sharply about delays.) Sunday/Monday bring optimism, friends, entertainment, perhaps light romance. (Though all these will blossom much more powerfully after July.) Someone met Sunday morning is a true friend. Retreat, rest, contemplate and plan Monday eve to Wednesday. Your intuition soars Monday night – you can make a good investment, or dream up excellent plans by listening to your imagination. The rest of this short phase, though, requires caution. Your energy rises nicely Thursday to Saturday – get out, start things, approach people. (Before Saturday – it’s a bit of a dud.)

 

VIRGO   Aug. 23-Sept. 22

It’s your last week of “pure romance” for a while, Virgo – enjoy it, don’t fret about duties or work, you’ll plunge into those next week. (And before then, no major projects – at least no major successful ones – will be started in the workplace.) The one you love might remain indecisive, or circumstances might keep you apart – either way, delays in love, creative projects, children’s progress, and speculative ventures, will end as January does. Even as these delays occur, love is sweet. (Some Virgos are complaining that they just aren’t getting any – no successful dates.  Remember, from 2012 to 2025, a completely different person hovers on your horizon. Love not only will, but should, become more elusive, tantalizing, magical yet frustrating. Embrace this; it will bring you true love someday.) Be ambitious Sunday; stick to routine Monday. Social joys, entertainment and romance draw you midweek. Retreat Thursday-Saturday: rest, plan, enjoy solitude. Saturday night, your charisma and energy rise: that “elusive” type could stare  back at you.

 

LIBRA   Sept. 23-Oct. 22

This is your last week of home-based activities and decisions, Libra. This area offers affection this winter, family members are sweet, but it is also, these years, a place of slow but constant change. Now to July, you have the ability to change domestic, property, security and retirement situations, mainly by your assertiveness toward your spouse or other links. Sunday/Monday are wise and mellow. If married, you can reach a good agreement with your other half before 1:30 pm (PST) Sunday; if single, you might meet someone compatible – travel and contract opportunities face all Librans. Monday night begins (with high benevolent intuition, or imagination) a short career phase, to Thursday pre-dawn. An ambitious opportunity shines Tuesday night. Otherwise, these few days call for caution. Your popularity rises Thursday  to Saturday – flirtation, social joys, and optimism about your future outweigh everything else!

 

SCORPIO   Oct. 23-Nov. 21

This is an easy week, Scorpio. Run errands, clear up paperwork, return calls and emails, travel and converse. Seek variety, follow your curiosity – especially Sunday/Monday, when secrets almost beg to reveal themselves. (If you’re seeking work or buying machinery, do so before 1:30 pm PST Sunday. – Also a good time to invest in industrial companies, stocks.) A wise, mellow mood flows over you Monday night through Wednesday. Romance, or a splendid, creative idea can visit you Monday night. A travel, legal, educational, cultural or publishing opportunity might appear Tuesday night; it has a strong money component. You might conclude “personal negotiations” with a prospective friend or lover. Be ambitious Thursday/Friday – co-workers are co-operative. Saturday night, your popularity rises.

 

SAGITTARIUS   Nov. 22-Dec. 21

Continue to chase money, Sage. Buy and sell, pursue clients, etc. Through July, life is “teasing you” with light touches of romance, friendly flirtations and an air of promise in love zones. Sunday brings this promise once again – and if you treat it lightly, if you’re willing to flirt, you could meet a good love (and mate) prospect. If you’re seeking romance before August, join groups, clubs, befriend those who give dinner parties or organize group affairs. Sexual, financial, and lifestyle urges fill you Monday night through Wednesday. This area contains some pitfalls and barriers, but also some good luck – Monday night, when intuition solves a family or real estate question; and Tuesday night, when sex, money or lifestyle yearnings could swell. (Not a lot will happen in these areas before March, but Tuesday night is a good “touch base” time, in that it shows you where your luck still is, and will be, until late summer. A wise, understanding mood slips over you Thursday to Saturday. Culture, love, travel, foreign contacts – early success masks a long-term barrier, financially, in these.

 

CAPRICORN   Dec. 22-Jan. 19

Your energy, effectiveness and charisma remain high, Cap. Use these this week to cement relationships and agreements, or to form new ones. Others find you charming, indecisive and stubborn. Tackle chores and protect your health Sunday/Monday. (Only routine chores Monday.) Insight into a relationship comes Monday night. Some tricky interactions (disruption, alienation) fill Tuesday daytime, but this night and most of Wednesday promotes joining, partnerships, negotiations and agreements – and relocation. Life’s mysteries offer rewards Thursday to Saturday, so be a detective. Research, ask questions, and be prepared to act boldly, AFTER caution has vetted your planned action(s). Intimacy, lifestyle changes, health diagnoses, and large finances are your best “themes.”

 

AQUARIUS   Jan. 20-Feb. 18

This is your last week of weariness, of solitude and quietness. Next week, you’ll burst forth with new energy and interests. The more deeply you rest now, the more vitality you’ll have next week into February. This is a good time to plan, to have your health checked or tuned up, and to deal with administrative offices, both in government and private sectors. Romance – or notions of it – attract you Sunday/Monday. Tackle chores Monday night through Wednesday – but carefully; practice safety, especially around electricity and high-tech machinery. A truly inspired idea about earning money might come late Monday night – remember it, write it down. A work opportunity hovers Tuesday eve/night. Relationships fill Thursday to Saturday – be eager, diplomatic and co-operative. You might make a fine friend Thursday. (He/she might later appear to be a prospective mate – and is, mostly. “Mostly,” because there will be practical barriers down the road, and these can lead to emotional coldness.) Next week, excitement begins!

 

PISCES   Feb. 19-March 20

Your future is great, Pisces, no matter what you think of it presently. The next 12 years will empower you, make you your own person; you will believe that your thoughts are correct, that you deserve to speak, that you deserve love. this new courage will make you more honest, more ready to reject unhealthy affairs, more ready to wait for the real one. I say this because right now your optimism is high, your romantic passion (though it’s circling indecisively this month) remains high, and now to July a sensual spark is nudging you to chase anything in skirts or pants. Have respect for your future, Pisces: this will bring you the best mate. (God, I’m such a moralizer!)
