PREAMBLE:

OKAY, I hate computers. This morning my Mac decided to delete my July 11 column, which was 2/3 written. So what follows is a much shorter column, because I just can’t write it twice.

WEEKLY FORECAST:

aries icon  ARIES:  March 21-April 19

Accent on home this week and next, Aries. A hot romantic streak continues/forms — a relief from home matters. Possible lucky property or family agreement. An inheritance for some, May-July ’21 and, more likely, January-May ’22. Chase love, invention Sun. (not easy) and Mon. (good). Work hard, buy machinery/tools, eat sensibly, midweek. Be gentle with relationships late week.

taurus icon  TAURUS:  April 20-May 20

Errands fill your days, casual contacts, paperwork, short trips and communications. Be curious, ask questions. You might hear exhilarating news. A money matter, mixed-up since May, is resolved favourably. Home life is sweet’n’sour, esp. Sun. (sour) and Mon. (sweet). Midweek’s romantic, creative, you see life’s beauty. Okay time to let someone know. Thursday onward, tackle chores, eat sensibly — use caution Sat.

gemini icon  GEMINI:  May 21-June 20

Earnings remain buoyant for another 11 days. (But be patient — best stuff here Jan.-May, ’22.) Possible good career news or earnings plum. Possible casual sexual affair — but just possible. Good week for communications, esp. romantic ones — but you get your nose dented Sun. — try Mon., when your words are welcome. Be home, be a parent, midweek. All’s well. Romance (and other gambles) call Thurs. onward, but it/they might also bite, so go cautiously.

Cancer icon  CANCER:  June 21-July 22

Your energy and charisma are tops, Cancer. Lead. Start projects. Money still pours towards you, and unless you spend on a luxury product, you get to keep a lot of it. You notch up a win in love, travel, academia or legal areas.

Chase money Sunday/Monday — Monday far better. Midweek is for errands, friends and communications. All flows well. Steer toward home and family Thursday to Saturday. You can either meet immovable opposition or deep love, Saturday.

Leo icon  LEO:  July 23-Aug. 22

Lie low, Leo — rest, rest, ponder and plan. Deal with background people. Although you’re tired, others are attracted to you and you might not be given a lot of time to be alone. (Of course you won’t mind.) Secrets revealed. You might succeed with an investment (or preggies for young couples?).

Your energy climbs a little Sunday/Monday, but save your efforts for Monday, which is much more successful than the day before. Chase money, buy/sell mid week — a nice, smooth and profitable interval. Errands, paperwork, and conversations will fill Thursday to Saturday. Be cautious Saturday, as those who oppose you might not give any warning signs.

virgo icon  VIRGO:  Aug. 23-Sept. 22

Chase happiness, Virgo. You’re likely to find it in group affairs, clubs, politics, etc. A romantic attraction might be holding you back or draining your energy, especially if you feel you have to hide part of it. Better to chase flirting and playful interaction rather than deep infatuation. A new talkative friend might enter.

Lie low, rest and plan Sunday/Monday. Sunday is tough; Monday is successful. Your energy and charisma shoot skyward midweek: ask for what you want, state your case. Pursue money Thurs. to Sat. — caution Sat.

libra icon  LIBRA:  Sept. 23-Oct. 22

The accent falls on your ambitions, social position and worldly standing, and your interactions with higher ups or prestige people. You will speak a lot more fluently and with more inspiration in this ambition area than you have before. A strong flirtatious romantic streak will lighten up all the heavy work you face.

That flirty streak is highlighted Sunday (difficulties) and Monday (success). Retreat midweek — lie low, rest, ponder, plan. Your energy and charisma — and clout — surge upward Thurs. to Sat. Take the lead, start projects — but slow to “caution levels” Sat., when you might face a home-career dilemma.

scorpio icon  SCORPIO:  Oct. 23-Nov. 21

Your wise, mellow outlook these days favours far travel, internationalism, academia, law, publishing, statistics, insurance and fame. Pick one or two! Intimate and financial prospects now become understandable, enabling you to make a good choice.

Your career needs attention: bosses are impatient, temperamental, yet sweet and gracious also — get on the good side. (Sunday’s bad for this; Monday’s excellent.) Wishes can come true midweek — be social, mingle and flirt. Withdraw from the crowd Thurs. to Sat. Lie low, rest and think. Your energy climbs Sat. pm, could throw true love at you like a quiet, deep wake-up call.

sagittarius icon  SAGITTARIUS:  Nov. 22-Dec. 21

You’re immersed in life’s secrets and subterranean forces, Sage. Your sexual desires are heightened, so be honest, ethical. Love might be developing all July, and will blossom even more in August. (But you’ll need to control your temper that month.) Both enthusiasm and affection buoy your intellectual, travel, media and cultural involvements, all month but esp. this Sun./Mon. (Sunday’s difficult; Monday’s helpful, successful.)

Be ambitious midweek — a good interval, success will be near! Optimism, popularity, and social delights put a twinkle in your eyes Thurs. to midday Sat. Be cautious. Sat. pm — quietly withdraw, for a restful weekend.

capricorn icon  CAPRICORN:  Dec. 22-Jan. 19

Relationships, fresh horizons and new opportunities, relocation themes, dealings with the public, and potential opposition fill the next 11 days, Cap. (Opposition if you aren’t diplomatic, willing to join another’s parade or project.) You’re brave and impulsive in finances, lifestyle choices and sex, most of July. Be moral. Surgery possible. These are emphasized Sunday (obstacles) and Monday (success, esp. when you “talk your case”).

Midweek brings love, intellect, pondering, far travel, media — march forward confidently in these. Examine and further your ambitions, deal with VIPs, Thurs. to Sat. Careful Sat. —destiny brings a person, but it’s up to you whether this is true love, or deep enmity.

Aquarius icon  AQUARIUS:  Jan. 20-Feb. 18

11 more days of drudgery, Aquarius. Just plod through it. Relief comes in the form of exciting opportunities, public appearances, or relationships, perhaps even true love, for most of July — but especially this Sunday/Monday. Sunday is tough, but Monday is better.

Midweek emphasizes secrets, sex, large finances, lifestyle and medical decisions — a good, productive interval. Examine both sides of a money situation late Wed. A mellow, understanding mood flows over you Thurs. to Sat. Law, academics, cultural and media interests lure you, but be cautious Sat. in money/career/management/ gov’t areas — you could catch a bonus, or create an enemy. Saturday pm — home, to rest.

Pisces icon  PISCES:  Feb. 19-March 20

The emphasis lies on romance for 11 more days, Pisces, on creative and speculative urges, games/sports, beauty and pleasure, and teaching charming kids. All July, your work place is lively, intense, and might “promote” a co-worker romance. Now, unlike recent weeks, you can talk about love.

Sunday’s difficult for chores; Monday, they’re easy. Protect your health Sun. Midweek sparks relationships — could be love, could be a business or relocation opportunity, could even be fame for some. A good interval. Deep stuff, lust (for power or sex), large finances, medical and lifestyle choices fill Thurs. to Sat. This isn’t the luckiest interval in the world, so be thoughtful, “obey” your intuition. (That little nudge that says, Do it, or Don’t do it.) Saturday needs care, but can also boost love and harmony, esp. in the pm.

THE END.

AFTERAMBLE:

You  can’t judge a book by its cover: Wrong, often. As above, so below, said Hermes. I’d add: as without, so within. Chaucer knew that.
***  ***

Residential schools, A and B:

Last week, while ranting about the Catholic residential schools and their massive death rates, I forgot one thing which the reader mentioned: that many deaths might have resulted from disease epidemics such as tuberculosis and measles.

That’s A). B) is that Indigenous People have come forward to say, Don’t burn the churches, because that will destroy archival documents and other evidence.

Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia, noted that this prime “fact source” has opened the doors wide to progressive, leftist and democratic “sources” but banned Fox News’ political reporting, the New York Post, and the Daily Mail from being used as sources. Other conservative websites like Breitbart, The Blaze, The Daily Wire, The Gateway Pundit, and Newsmax are also banned.

“Many mainstream sources of conservative, libertarian, or contrarian opinion are banned from Wikipedia as well, including Quillette, The Federalist, and the Daily Caller,” he added. “Those might be contrarian or conservative, but they are hardly ‘radical’; they are still mainstream. So, how on earth can such viewpoints ever be given an airing on Wikipedia? Answer: often, they cannot, not if there are no ‘reliable sources’ available to report about them.”

“It is not too far to say that Wikipedia, like many other deeply biased institutions of our brave new digital world, has made itself into a kind of thought police that has de facto shackled conservative viewpoints with which they disagree,” Sanger wrote in a conclusion on his website. “Democracy cannot thrive under such conditions: I maintain that Wikipedia has become an opponent of vigorous democracy.”

    Hi Tim,

Sorry you lost your work, I know it’s a pain.

I know it’s probably not what you want to hear but I have been in the Computer Industry for 30 years and Apple just doesn’t cut it when it comes to IT. Get a HP with Windows10 and you will be able to write your forecast so that it automatically saves as you are working. Windows is not perfect but it is more stable than Apple.

I value your work so much, I can’t thank you enough and I am sure loads of other people do around the world. I just wanted to perhaps help you in some way.

    Thanks and regards, Peter.

      Thanks, peter-oz,

I have Windows 10 also, but use that machine for charting. Still, I’m thinking about returning to Word for writing, too.

      Cheers,

      Tim
