ASTRAL REFLECTIONS

High clouds emit a cold gray light on the suburban street. The concrete pavement is flat and cold. It's late day, but the sky is uniformly gray, right to the horizon. It hasn't snowed. No one's out except a small group of kids, playing, their voices insulated by the cold street. A seductive stillness fills the air; the horizon is important for some inexplicable reason. This unremarkable scene - for there is nothing pretty, beautiful or magnificent in it - this very ordinary moment of a day, once or twice a year, when the light is exactly the same, the dull frozen street the same, makes me stop, alert with a deep, mysterious pleasure. Something lifts up in me, as if a silent angel of awareness (and what are angels but awareness?) hovered unseen over my head, and spoke in their inexplicable, silent tongue. Maybe the feeling connects to a moment in childhood, when, playing with the other kids, I saw something - perhaps the horizon?
There are other memories - are they memories? - a treasure chest of familiar yet strange recognitions. Last week I saw a painting in a law firm, a picture of luxuriant green yellow and brown bushes and tall grass and weeds flowing down a hillside in a sunny breeze: the deeply pleasurable, trance-like mystery came again. It lasts about 3 minutes, and disappears if you look away. The sensation is always of a half-grasped memory, an indescribable emotion, a distant unknown/known place, a strangeness that provokes deep yearning. My mind goes: When was I there, and where?
In the 1990's, I meditated for a period of years. I channeled for groups of people. I tranced and floated and spoke with spirits. One spirit in particular, I called her/it Nima, came through and spoke to people. I could never tell if Nima was an outside entity that did enter me, or simply a slice of my subconscious. It didn't matter, as "she" connected deeply enough to be clairvoyant. For example, one night she told a woman in the audience that her mother was flying away in a wooden box, and that she was happy and her daughter shouldn't worry. The woman came to see me the next day and told me her mother had died that night. Nima often referred to a listener's past. She would say, "_remember when you swam in the rain when you were..." Once she "took me" to a place where many consciousnesses slowly floated by. They seemed small as pinpoints, but when one floated close, it consumed me for a moment with serenity so intense it was like a blazing force, and the "pinpoint" was vast as worlds.  
But as wondrous as those channeling and meditation sessions were, none of them drew me as deeply as that winter memory, or that law-office painting. Explain that, Horatio.

Aries   March 21-April 19
This is a popular, optimistic, flirtatious week for you, Aries. Romance is slow and kids are burdensome (at least you think they are) - a condition that lasts until September 2007, so pace yourself, be mellow. Taurus   April 20-May 20
Emphasis lies on your career, business efforts, dealings with VIPs, bosses and parents, judges and authorities. You could be offered a breakthrough here, or a promotion, due to the well-meant aid of another. In any case, chase opportunities, especially Monday night and Tuesday morning (money) and Wednesday noon to Friday noon (contacts, travel, communications). It's a smooth, lucky week! (However, avoid arguments Sunday morning and power struggles Tuesday p.m.) Love remains sweet. Soon, a heavy secret, restriction or obsessive attraction will fade, clearing your mind for the money chase!

Gemini   May 21-June 20
With the possible exception of Sunday, this is a sweet, easy, happy week! (Take a breather Sunday - rest, observe.) Your energy, charisma, effectiveness and luck soar Monday to Wednesday dawn - you can succeed in education, law, far travel, media, advertising and cultural affairs, especially Tuesday morning! Chase money noon Wednesday to noon Friday. Saturday's for calm travel, quiet reading, easy friends. February continues your easy luck with finances, investments and "intimate encounters" but if you're going to do any more wheeling/dealing do it soon - late February begins a slow-down.

Cancer   June 21-July 22
Over the past few months you've met (and probably developed a good start with) a very attractive person or a very attractive opportunity (in business, to relocate, to perform before the public, etc.). This attraction continues unabated during February, but the time has come to commit, to make this situation solid, to become intimate or provide funding. If you don't, a rare chance could fade into history! A very recent delay or glitch to this "deepening" has weakened, so go ahead now, before February 17. (Or leave it, him, her alone.)

Leo   July 23-Aug. 22
Love and business relationships excite and challenge you this month. Be diplomatic but eager to join; love, don't fight. Others hold the advantage. You could meet a "half-viable" mate prospect, or have an inspiration about a work opportunity. (The latter's better.) Your career, prestige and practical ambitions could run into an unexpected opposition or quirky glitch Monday daytime, but this night to Tuesday noon blesses your efforts. A Tuesday p.m. adjustment can strengthen your position. Your hopes and wishes, popularity and outlook rise Wednesday to Friday!
